- What is the IND?
The IND is the Dutch government organisation that handles the admission of foreigners to The Netherlands.
- What do the letters IND stand for?
Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst. In English this translates to Immigration and Naturalisation Service.
- What does the IND do?
They implement the aliens policy, the Aliens Act (Vreemdelingenwet) and The Netherlands Nationality Act (Rijkswet op het Nederlanderschap). They process all applications for asylum, family reunification, visa and other residence permits. More than 3500 people work at the IND.
